“Essential preparation for AI job disruption and prioritizing your dreams...”

Maybe you feel stuck in a “comfortable” life. Maybe you want to create financial runway for your dreams or a buffer between you and AI job loss. Maybe you just want to feel more peace and control.

Money and our relationship with it has this sneaky way of affecting everything else, so even if we start with money, Build the Runway is about so much more than just dollars. It's life design at its best.

As an author (Dear Fellow Spender and Dear Fellow Dreamer) who's really lived this stuff, it's my privilege to help you get focused and on-purpose in your cash flow so you like the life you're buying, and create options for change.

Have your employer invest in your preparation

Headlines like this one and this one project knowledge work job disruption of up to 50% within a matter of years. Articles like this one substantiate it starting to happen—not because companies are struggling but because the company can do more with fewer humans using AI.

Given all this, it is entirely reasonable to ask your manager/company to invest in helping you make your own preparations, while helping you be an even more productive employee, no matter what happens with AI.

Below is language to use to get them to cover the Runway package.

Recommended initial request:

I'm interested in being as prepared as possible for the AI disruption that's being widely forecasted for knowledge workers. I've come across a financial runway package that would help me organize my immediate finances, understand exactly how much runway I'd have in a job transition, and think through my options. It's $600 for two sessions. I'd love for the company to reimburse it as a professional development expense that makes me an even more productive employee whether things get disrupted or not. Happy to share more details if helpful.

If they say "We already have a 401k advisor or EAP":

Most employer wellness and financial benefits are about investing, retirement planning, or long-term debt management — forward-looking and long-horizon. This is different: it's a clear-eyed picture of right now and the near-term future, built specifically around a job transition scenario most advisors aren't equipped to run. And it's offered by a financial coach → author who's lived this. It's not competing with our 401k advisor or EAP; it's filling a gap nobody else is filling.

If they still push back, don't hesitate to contact me for help.
