I've been thinking how much our lives and dreams are like completing a puzzle. You'd be right in guessing that I currently have a puzzle in residence on my dining table.
Some pieces fall into place right away. Some areas of the puzzle are easier.
Other pieces you try over and over in the same spot, only to finally set aside and move on to another part of the puzzle.
Once you've placed more pieces, you pick that one back up, and voila!—it now fits in the original area without complication.
Sometimes you avoid the hard regions of the puzzle because, well, they feel hard. In reality, they're usually not as hard as you think.
Sometimes (often?) you try to force pieces to fit a region of the puzzle. "By dang, this is where all the blue flowers pieces go," you think, only to discover there's another section of the puzzle where all those blue flower pieces you'd set aside actually fit.
Or you try to force two piece to fit together when they just don't.
In contrast, when a puzzle piece fits, there's really no question. It just fits.
We're all getting pieces of our life and dream puzzles as we take action, try stuff, and fail, refine and fail, then try again. And sometimes something we may have ruled out as a mis-fitting "puzzle piece" turns out to be a puzzle piece ahead of its time. We were trying to force the placement or the timing.
Which is why one of my new favorite phrases is, "It can be that easy." As easy and uncomplicated as two puzzle pieces fitting together, or one piece finally connecting the disparate parts of the puzzle.
This is happening in an entrepreneurial thing complementary to my writing work, and it's felt pretty incredible. I'm sure I'll share at some point.
Would love to know how you apply this to you.
Isn't it cool to be alive right now? See you in the next one...
